The Player Appearance settings you were accustomed to have now been upgraded and centralized in a new Themes section accessible from the top navigation bar. This update brings several enhancements, offering you greater flexibility and control over your sites' look and feel. Let’s walk through the changes and new possibilities this feature brings.

The Evolution: From Site-Specific to Centralized Themes

Before the Update

Previously, each site's Player Appearance settings were managed individually. You could tweak the visuals of the player within each site, but this approach had limitations, especially when managing multiple sites.

Now: Centralized Themes

With the new update, these appearance settings are now centralized under the Themes navigation in the top bar. This centralization allows you to manage multiple themes across different sites with ease, ensuring a consistent look and feel across your entire organization.

Managing Themes

The Themes Dashboard

In the Themes section, you’ll find a list of all available themes. By default, every customer will see the Inline Manual Default Theme. While this default theme cannot be edited directly, you can easily duplicate it, customize the duplicate, and assign it to any site you manage.

Editing a Theme

When you edit a theme, you'll find the interface familiar. It closely resembles the previous Player Appearance settings but with a few notable enhancements. These enhancements are marked with a "New Experience" badge, indicating options that will become relevant with the introduction of Builder (a new Authoring Tool for creating content version 2).

Benefits of the New Themes Feature

  1. Consistent Branding Across Sites: With Themes, you can apply the same look and feel to multiple sites simultaneously. This consistency is crucial for maintaining brand integrity across different projects or clients.

  2. Efficient Management: Instead of managing each site's appearance settings individually, you can now make global changes through a single theme, saving time and ensuring uniformity.

  3. Future-Ready Options: The "New Experience" options are a glimpse into the future capabilities of Inline Manual. While they don’t affect current sites, they will become powerful tools once the Builder tool is released, allowing for even more customization possibilities.

Getting Started

To begin using the new Themes feature:

  1. Navigate to the Themes section from the top navigation bar.
  2. Review the existing themes, including the default one provided by Inline Manual.
  3. Duplicate the default theme to create your custom version.
  4. Edit the theme as needed and assign it to your sites.
